Dominique Baudis, rights activist and former Mayor of Toulouse, is dead

The former Mayor of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and rights defender Dominique Baudis died Thursday morning at the Hospital of Val-de-Grâce in Paris. Aged 66, he was suffering from a generalized cancer.
Former television journalist, he also chaired the editorial board of le Figaro, the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (audiovisual regulatory body-CSA) and the Institute of the Arab world (IMA).
His name is also associated terrible rumor which he suffered in 2003 in L'affaire Alegre.
Dominique Baudis succeeded his father Pierre in the mairie of Toulouse which from 1983 to 2001.
In June 2011, 'Rights defender' had been appointed by the president of the Republic, showing this new function.
